Laphroaig make big, peated whisky. The ‘big 3’ as they are affectionately known include Arberg, Lavagulin and Laphroaig and of all the three, Laphroaig is the most likely to punch you in the face with peat.
Laphroaig is extremely popular among Scotch aficionados, but reasonably unknown to the general public. The thrill of finding a drink that few people know about is exciting, but with less popularity comes higher costs. This brand is significantly more expensive than other ‘mainstream’ whiskies, such as Glenfiddich. Laphroaig whiskies areĀ less drinkable though, which is not to say that they are an inferior whisky by any means – but they are typically not whiskies that can be drunk multiple times in a session due to their powerful taste.
If you enjoy peated whiskies, look no further than Laphroaig.
