Aberlour is a distillery based in Speyside that is probably most famous for its tours. It makes single malt Scotch whisky exclusively, and has a reputation for excellence. The youngest of its malts is 10 years, and the oldest is 18 years. Visiting the Aberlour website will present the option of it being in either English or French, and this is because Aberlour produces a series of malts that have been aged in sherry barrels intended for the French palate.
Founded in 1826, Pernod Ricard bought the Aberlour distillery in 1975 and still owns it as of 2013 – indeed, they own Glenlivet and Strathisla as well.
